Hot Rods and Hills is held at Parkfoot holiday park on the amazing Lake Ullswater and every year in June a mystical appearance happens it’s unclear where they come from but they ascend on the park like flies to honey… no its not UFO’s although some people look at these things like they are! No I am talking about the American cars and Hot Rods along with British classics that start to roll into Parkfoot holiday park to set up camp and start to walk around the site looking at other cars and bump into friends to have a chat to because this event is the only none show event on the calendar of the year as the Hot Rods and Hills is not a sit and wash your car for a Sunday event it’s a clean your car if you wish to but the main aim of the Hot Rods and Hills is to drive your car with 2 cruises set out on Friday & Saturday, Fridays cruise out was to Lowther Castle where permission was given to park out on the grass it’s a lovely venue, Saturdays Cruise was to the Lakeland Motor Museum unfortunately the sky opened up a few times it must have had a few beers as it happened to have a wee on us a few times over the weekend but was well because it takes a lot more than that for us lot to get a downer in such a great weekend and it has to be the best chill out weekend going. There is nothing better than just walking around and bumping into people you haven’t seen for so long and on the same token meeting new people along the way through the park while looking at the amazing cars and you can see the pride of the owners at what they have built worked on and spent countless hours fettling and getting to work properly to make it to this event on its own, the local town Pooley Bridge a short walk water side from the camp grounds brings you into a village that has some fantastic shops and pubs that sell some of the best food you have ever had that combined with the rumble of V8’s rolling through the middle is just a dream to sit out in a beer garden an them watch drive past, sometimes it’s just what the doctor ordered, a good time with a little smile talking to people about thing you know you can’t do in any other circumstance in life, it’s the feeling you will never get anywhere else and that is what makes this weekend what it is the knowledge of this is the place you can come and share things you can’t anywhere else.

Saturday night was in the clubhouse with a fantastic band to play Rock’n’Roll on the night, Mad Jack and the Hatters did just that filling up the dance floor, but alas Sunday morning soon arrived and it was time for some of us to pack up and go home after having a blast and putting what feels like 7000 miles on the legs all weekend (it wasn’t that much honest!) The handy thing about Parkfoot Holiday park is because it is a holiday park you can as some did book for a week and have a holiday while the Hot Rods and Hills is on.
