2018 PHANTOMS GHOST TOWN HOOTENANNY

Sorry, what did you say? The Phantoms Ghost Town run is on? Is it? Well that came around quick, and so it was, the Phantoms Ghost Town Hootenanny was once upon us again, sure don’t feel like a year since it was on but here we are Friday, grabbing my pack of smokes a few beers and getting the final things in our bags ready to set off to Blackford Highland Showground to go meet up with friends and drool over every type of American & custom cars & pickups possible. The weather looked good I had my camera gear and we were set, We arrived Friday evening and the camping grounds were already looking full, our friend had arrived before us with a monster journey from Orkney Island (Google Orkney to Blackford wonder how he does it sometimes) so after setting up I went for a wonder around some of the camping field and at was a lot fuller than I realised as I didn’t make it even half way before I needed to go back to camp to sit down, talking about people travelling distances even Shaun Wilson made the huge trip all the way from Blackpool to the heart of Scotland and to say the size of the camping grounds I didn’t even get to say hello to him until the cruise out on the Saturday afternoon. The Friday night the village hall was opened up for us to go and sit listen to a DJ and rest your legs and have a fruit juice with while catching up with friends then later on the Phantoms had been cooking up your free burger for everyone to get tucked into before the night slowly drifted into day and so did people into their beds for the next day was the cruise out to the motor museum in Bo’ness where a burger van sat and as you parked up and had a wonder around you could chew on a burger from the van, now I have to say I have been in the museum years ago but after that never managed to make it in again as I am always too busy taking photos outside to be able to, maybe next year!
Saturday was a nice chilled out day mulling around catching up with people you haven’t seen for ages and making new ones, with the cruise out and everyone back at camp you had no need to worry about what to have for dinner as just outside the road out of camp was a Fish & Chip Van, handy, they came on the Friday and must have had a good time as they came back on the Saturday night for a few hours, Bonus, then the Phantoms had arranged the Rockabilly band for the hall that did a few sets to and the DJ for when the band needed a rest before the next set they played to get everyone up on the dance floor to.
So that brings us to the Sunday.... possibly the hottest we have had, well all the ones I have been to anyway, any hoo.. the show field started filling up with traders and cars, trucks and classics and what a day! Roasting hot and loads of cars to shoot and friends to talk to it was a blast it really was. Soon as I noticed the time had flown past and it was time to pack up and head home. Thanks to all the Phantoms for a fantastic event and everyone else that helped to make this happen, See Ya Next Year!!

Yes its for sale, yes it is original and yes if I had the money I would have bought it on the spot, but I dont so that leaves one of you lovely lot able to buy it.

So I thought I would try something not often done in car stuff at shows, took my gear and went to do some daytime long exposure stuff

this was a 2 minute exposure.

This was a 3 minute exposure

Then the owner came out to have a chat and moved the truck into the corner for a better back drop

this was an 8 minute 51 second exposure.

And this was the final one I did on the truck, 15 minute exposure, and so it was off to find the next victim.

Another pick up, this one is a 4 minute exposure not that you can tell it was too cloudy by this point and the light was dropping so that didn't help,

but if you look at the flags you can at least tell I did try to get it, I will try another time at another show.. stay tuned for later developments.

The Rocka Hillbillillies went down a storm in the village hall on the Saturday night.

Sunday Sunday Sunday, Show an shine day when not just the people camping get to show us the cars they brought but the public do too!

Real or not? I would say not but who cares, fantastic car and great to see out and about.

So, why the screen grab you ask well... ok when we have been out on a cruise, we all know that people slow down, look over as the pass blah blah blah

well, this time someone was so wrapped up in looking at an orange american pick up that had stopped in traffic on the forth road bridge didn't look in front and continued

to fly along not looking hit the car in front and push them into the car in front of them! I am not going to name any names of people and cars and why (well we all know why!) but

it goes to show how we don't want things to happen, keep your eyes on the road people!
