AMERICANA INTERNATIONAL

This year saw the 33rd Americana International stamp its foot firmly in place at Newark county showground, with 4 days of live music, with 55 bands playing on 5stages, with such a vast array from country through to heavy metal playing in the Harley Bar, you were never short of something to do, whether it be, watching a band, taking a stroll down traders ally’s, or walking around the fields looking at the vast amount of American classic cars parked up.

This year had a little twist on it from last year, as last year anyone that went to Americana will know that walking around looking like a drowned rat due to the horrible weather we had, is not much fun. This year someone must have been looking down on us and said ‘Cook’em Dano!’ with temperatures’ hitting 35c and not a hint of breeze in the air it sure was a twist around from last year’s wet one. The world over they say that England is the country that moans the most, as a contrast from last year I heard ‘I’m sick of this rain’ to ‘It’s too hot!’ I think I would prefer the Hot one.

Americana is the biggest event of its kind, live music and such a range and scope of vehicles from, hot rods to custom motorcycles, big rigs and classic American cars, your eyes sometimes don’t know what to look at first! If you didn’t think there was enough to do at Americana already, the news hot off the press is this is the last year the Newark County Showground will host to the mecca of this massive event, it is moving onto newer pastures.

The new venue for Americana will be even bigger, hosting bigger camping areas and a 1.8 mile race track for you to play on, along with the added bonus of a runway as well, this could just be the one event of the year that really will cover all aspects of all parts of our hobby no matter what part of it you like the most, show ‘n’ shine, music, fair ground, motorcycle & big rigs with track racing all on in one massive weekend. Best take a spare pair of legs with you, you may just need them.

This year also saw a new security firm take the helm of Americana, Definitive Security Services, the most friendly and interactive firm I have seen at any event for years, not only friendly and helpful but were also eager and on the ball at all points during the weekend. Americana has lived up to its name and beyond, Many thanks to Chris Jackson & Family for organizing such a fantastic event, also to all the team and crew that make the event run smooth all weekend long.

Next year’s dates  for the 34th Americana International are July 10th – 13th 2014 at Prestwold Park, near Loughborough, Leics, LE12 5SQ
